Take a Trip – Servicing Your Porsche

Before you call JZ Machtech, you can log on to our website and check the prices for servicing your Porsche yourself. If you wish, you can even make your booking online. But if you prefer the personal touch, phone us or send a call-me-back request by clicking the icon on the website, which also allows you to choose the best time for your call back.

The Fact Finding Mission

If you phone us, you will be able to discuss your queries and needs with one of our helpful staff. They will ask you lots of questions which will allow them to help us meet your needs, such as whether your budget is more important to you, convenience and time etc. They will explain the best approach to be taken - the one that will be most beneficial, to you and your Porsche. On the other hand, you might just be after free expert advice and they will be equally happy to help you.

The Big Day Arrives

On the day that your Porsche is booked in for servicing, you will be asked, once again, to go over your needs as well as any other queries that may have arisen since your booking your service. On the day your Porsche is due in, if you did not book one of our hire cars and do not have a lift waiting for you, we will happily give you a lift to the nearest suitable public transport – or even to your home if you live within a practical distance.

Every morning all our technicians have a meeting to discuss the day ahead. Your Porsche will be allocated to the technician most suited to the type of work and service that it is in for. The member of staff, who you spoke to on the telephone and who you met that morning, will then give a detailed brief to your technician.

A Very Thorough Inspection

Your technician will first fit seat covers, floor mats and a steering wheel cover in your Porsche. He will then carefully put your Porsche onto the ramp which has been selected for the purpose. Our ramps are of a unique design, which allows easy access to doors and accommodates the wider bodied Porsche. All electrical switches are checked in your Porsche, including windows, heating, sunroof, air conditioning and lights. Everything is checked and any problems are reported.

More Checks

Next we check the doors, seatbelts, locks, seats, wipers, lenses, body panels, wheels… plus anything relating to the outside of your Porsche, while it is still at floor level. Yet again, a report is made on all faults found.

We now send the ramp up halfway, and check all ball-joints, suspension, steering, remove all road wheels and check your tyres for wear, tear and irregularities. We carefully stack the wheels, out of the working area, to protect them from any possible damage.

At this point we check and measure the brake discs and pads, examine the calipers, brake hoses, drive shafts and anything that may be housed in the wheel arch such as air conditioning condensers, oil coolers and oil lines.

Even the Dirty Bits Get Inspected

We are now able to send your Porsche up on the ramp to its maximum height, where we can check the underbody, chassis, and fuel lines. The gearbox and engine will be inspected for leaks, as well as the exhaust system, all mountings, roll bars and we’ll have a good general look around for any other items that may need to be reported.

An Accurate Estimate

Armed with his report the technician will explain his findings to the same member of staff you spoke to on the telephone and who met you only a few hours ago. He will now check the list and prioritize the jobs. He will also check all costs and parts prices, making sure to give you the best price possible plus any options available that may save you money, if time is not of the essence.

Now with a detailed report of costs, your contact will phone you, and ask if you are able to spend a few minutes of your time, so he can explain our findings. Once everything has been covered and you fully understand the report he will ask you which, if any, extra work you require.

You Give us the Go Ahead

You will be given a finish time to fit in with your requirements and a final price suited to your budget. Our service communicator will now give your technician a final brief on your conversation, with the final job report sheet, which will highlight and confirm any extra work.

By this time the technician would have completed part of the service, draining the oil, cleaning and lubricating the door locks, hinges and any other important linkages. All the necessary parts are sourced and made available to your technician’s assistant.

All our technicians work with assistants, who are studying at college on a five-year course. In time they will become fully trained and one day have their own assistants. This system allows JZ Machtech to grow while keeping up our high standards.

It’s All About Attention to Detail

Once all the parts have been fitted and the work has been completed a few more checks are made including windscreen washer jet alignment, tyre pressures set correctly, handbrake travel adjusted so it’s not too high. All the wheels are re-fitted to your Porsche with anti-seize grease on the nuts and the inner part of the wheel. The wheel nuts are then tightened to the correct torque setting. This will help save you a possible problem in the future should you need to remove the wheels for any reason such as a puncture.

The Proof of the Pudding…

Your Porsche is then taken on a test drive; the route is chosen to suit the type of work, which has been done. Driving in traffic during the rush hour can be difficult but our test drivers are very careful and safe, at all times, whilst still making sure that your Porsche is performing as was intended by the Porsche factory.

With the test drive completed and the job card and report finished, the technician hands the paperwork back to our service communicator who will finalize all the costs, checking that all the work has been completed as you requested. A final quality check is completed at this point.

The young, enthusiastic assistant will now clean your Porsche, both inside and out, using carefully selected products to suit your Porsche. While this is going on, we will phone you to let you know that your Porsche is ready for collection.

Take it Away!

If at this point, if you have time, we will explain to you the final costs, which will be the same as your quote, or we can discuss it when you arrive to collect your Porsche. You will also be offered advice for the future plus answers to any questions that you may have. You are then escorted to your Porsche and you can now experience the high quality of workmanship whilst driving your Porsche away, with the confidence that all the work has been completed properly and to your requirements.
